The player was just passing by the Island (maybe because he thinks its to strongly defended) and moves on to the next island. Vehicle-AI gets the waypoints and their AI navigates to the waypoints shoot enemy and so on. You move the the carrier to an enemy island - the friendly strategic AI kicks in and starts all units, place them into groups assign waypoints for those groups on the enemy island (the same thing, the Island-AI does) trying to capture the island. Now for a friendly AI alongside with the player: The Player-Carrier leaves Island again (maybe was just passing by) - Island AI becomes inactive again If an enemy gets into range, the unit will shoot at it Player-Carrier approaches Island - Island-AI gets active and will generate waypoints for all groups - and Vehicle-AI will move to waypoint once reached get a new waypoint somewhere on said island Island-AI will scatter them around, will place them in some groups Meanwhile a friendly AI would have to make logical decisions, that correspond with the potential irrational actions a player would to.ĪI-Overlord orders island "xyz" to be heavily guarded - and spawns a dozen units on said island That might include some form of cheating because the player isn't there looking The key difference is, that the enemy "AI" is probably just controlling the local units on a island - maybe with a AI above that, that controls the AI controlling the islands There is a distinction between Enemy AI and friendly AI along with players Got it? You honestly left me almost speechless. What do you think controls that thingies you shoot at as player?Īaah, right. Originally posted by nobodx:dont know, where AI would come into play and make a major difference - save for autopiloting the carrier Hello genius. Planing waypoints / patrols / routes around the enemy bases ? not really, esp since an ai cant know what ure planing - maybe you just want to travel past that island, and ai drops all your vehicles for a patrol - you would have to check way more, stuff than you have to currentlyĬontrolling vehicles ? there is already (some) ai controlling them

Requesting artillery / Cruise missiles - really want ai to handle you're big aoe-attacks ? Turning on/off defensive & support equipment ? barely any pressure from that side, just turn it on, when you're near an enemy Handling repairs on the ship ? thats something that could be helpfull Requesting items from stockpile ? maybe, when you set a limit/desired amount as in factorio for example but that wouldn't exactly be AI, just requesting missing items Managing Production on islands ? also not really Dont know, where AI would come into play and make a major difference - save for autopiloting the carrierĬhosing loadout for your units ? not realy
